Gina and the Kids in Cambridge

Gina and the Kids in Cambridge

In Acts chapter 2 of the New Testament it says, ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out My Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. (Acts 2:17 NLT )  In 2005, while in prayer, God gave me (Kent) a vision (mental image).  I saw a huge heart beating, it was placed over Boston, and it was pumping blood (life) in every direction.  Although I had never been to Boston, me and a few friends decided to take a trip to to see what was stirring.  Some of those we met during first trip have become very close friends!  As I began to travel to Boston more frequently, I felt a sense of purpose, calling, and energy.  Over the next four years from 2006-2009, I traveled to Boston and Cambridge more than 25 times!

From 2007-2008, we felt very strongly that transition was coming soon.  Then in May 2008, after 4 years of directing BASIC College Ministries, we went to the Board of Directors to share with them what we were feeling.  They asked us to take the summer and pray about where the Lord was directing us.  As we did that, Genesis 12:1-2 jumped off the page at us, “Like Abraham, leave what is comfortable and step out to a land that I will show you” (paraphrased).  It was very difficult to think about this challenging move.  Step out without knowing what is coming next?  What does that mean?  You’re kidding, right God?  But we couldn’t escape it.  We knew that God was directing us to put in our one year resignation with BASIC without knowing what was coming up next!

It’s been an exciting and scary ride, but we would never go back to the way things were before.  Life is meant to be lived with adventure and purpose.  Since becoming followers of Jesus, we have walked by faith.  Being missionaries with BASIC for five years grew our faith immensely, but this has been a whole new journey!  God has shown up at every step.  As we keep putting our foot in the water, He keeps parting it!

Finally, towards the end of 2008, we began to gain some more specific direction.  I won’t go into details, but Jesus confirmed in several different ways that we were to be in Cambridge, Mass.  Even though Gina had only been to the Boston area twice, she had just as much faith as I did that we were to sell our home, significantly downsize, and move our lives to Cambridge!

Abraham left what was familiar without knowing where he would end up, trusting that God was leading him.  He was on a journey: a life-long pursuit of God.   He followed Him each step of the way until the Lord called him home.  We desire to do the same – walk faithfully and fruitfully with God and make an impact in this world until He takes us home!

We believe the most important thing in life is to encounter and know God – which in turn gives us the power to really love God and love people passionately (love = living for the good of others).  Everything else in our lives will come into alignment as we seek to encounter and know God.

The Murawski family is on a journey to know Jesus and follow Him.  Will you join us on the journey?

Above  is a picture of Gina and the kids’ first trip to Cambridge in 2008.  In this picture, Kole had just untied some balloons attached to a store in Harvard Square.  The patrons inside were laughing hysterically!
